annually raises an average of $1,000,000 in private support
that is matched by $2,000,000 in public funding.

ABOUT PATH: Founded in 1991, The PATH Foundation is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to developing a metrowide trail system
for Atlanta. A team of experienced trail builders oversees
the planning and development of PATH's greenway trails and
raises funds to continue building trails for Atlanta. The
City of Atlanta has named PATH its official partner in trail
building for the city. PATH trails enhance community spirit
and bring neighborhoods together. Each day, thousands of joggers,
walkers, bikers and skaters from all walks of life escape
the roads and hit the trails. The demand for trails has increased
dramatically as our citizens look for safer ways to exercise,
recreate and reconnect with their neighbors. PATH is committed
to creating a network of trails throughout Georgia. Significant
portions of that network already include the following trails:
Inman Park, The "Silver Comet," Stone Mountain,
Chastain Park, DeKalb County and the Ocmulgee River Heritage
Greenway.

Project CrossRoads @ St. Lukes Church
SAT, MAY 18 10a
This day has been set up for several reasons:
1. To have a positive impact on the lives of people that are
currently homeless
2. Improve the conditions of the center where homeless people
go for help
3. Increase awareness of the community to the challenges of
homeless people
4. Clean-up downtown Atlanta and increase community involvement
For all of us, eating a hot meal, sleeping in a warm bed,
and receiving mail at our home are routine events we experience
daily. Yet, for the thousands of homeless men, women and children
living in Atlanta, these simple pleasures are luxuries not
often experienced. Have you ever considered how you would
apply for a job if you had no home address?
But CrossRoads NEEDS YOUR HELP! Located in the basement of
St. Lukes Church in downtown Atlanta, the CrossRoads facility
is in disrepair, with paint-chipped walls, torn carpeting
and broken windows. In order to improve the overall appearance
of the facility and create a more inviting environment, the
First Annual "Project CrossRoads Volunteer Day"
has been scheduled for Saturday, May 18th from 10am to 4pm.
If you have a desire to help during any part of the day, and
don't mind getting a little dirty, we need help with painting,
minor repair work, and just cleaning up!

Bhangra Summer Madness 2002 @ Karma
SAT, MAY 25 9:30p
Bhangra is the cultural folk music that can be traced back
to the early 1400s in the rural state of Punjab (located in
Northern India and Pakistan). Dancing to Bhangra was usually
associated with the harvest festival of Bhaisakhi as farmers
celebrated the fruits of their labor. Today Bhangra is no
longer confined to Punjab; the contagious rhythms of this
music have permeated nearly every land with extreme energy
and popularity. DJ Yay-o & Kiranzz, Inc. present Bhangra
Summer Madness 2002 at Karma located at 79 Poplar St NW, (404)
577-6967, www.karmaatlanta.com. Bhangra lessons 9:30pm to
10:30pm. $10 cover.
