Atlanta Outdoor Club
The Atlanta Outdoor Club (AOC) was founded in the late Fall
of 2000, when Amy Pickwick began scouring the Web for an outdoor
club in the Atlanta area that was for all ages, was close to the
city, and held events of all sorts (hiking, canoeing, biking, etc.)
When the Web didn't seem to offer any answers, Amy decided to use
her web development knowledge to form an online meeting and information
place for a club. Today, the club has over 400 participants (members
and non-members who participate in activities), equal numbers of
males and females, and caters to all ages (although a majority of
members are in their 20's or 30's).
Since its inception, the AOC has had 2 primary objectives:
1) to help outdoor enthusiasts network (make new friends, and/or
share their outdoors expertise with others)
2) to educate outdoor enthusiasts on Georgia and other nearby adventures.

Atlanta Vinos
The Atlanta Vinos mission is to bring wine eduction to
Atlanta’s young professionals, in an fun and social, yet affordable
manner. We believe that wine education shouldn’t be pretentious--but
we do believe it is important. We are a nonprofit organization,
and membership is open to any over the legal drinking age. Although
we do target the 25-38 year old crowd, all ages (over 21) are welcome.
Our only real requirement for membership is a interest in wine.
We are set up as a social group as well, and we strive to make our
membership a broad mix from across Atlanta.

AtlanTIX
One of my FAVORITE things about Chicago (and New York) has made
it to the Atlanta Scene!!!
Atlanta's version of Hot Tix is called "AtlanTIX". It is a service
which offers half-price day of show tickets from nearly one hundred
performing arts companies and cultural attractions, for thousands
of theatre, dance and music performances throughout the year. Some
days they also offer tickets the day before the show to matinees
on the following day.
Just drop in and visit the AtlanTIX ticket booth and choose from
the great selection of shows listed on the board for that day. The
AtlanTIX booth is located in my neck of the woods - 65 Upper Alabama
Street. It is on the corner of Prior & Upper Alabama in Underground
Atlanta. It is a part of the Atlanta Convention and Visitor's Bureau
building, which is kind of like a mini Atlanta Disneyland of cool
stuff to do around town. You must show up in person - they will
not quote ticket availability over the phone.

Hushbox
Atlanta based designer Keith Brown has put together a hugely
successful (10,000+!) e-zine called "The Hushbox". Keith definitely
has his finger on the pulse of Atlanta and is leading the renaissance
in uncovering cool new spots devoid of the tired Buckhead vibe.
So what is the HUSHBOX? In Keith's own words...
"According to some, it's a quite popular e-mail list of atlanta
people & events. i say, it's an ever growing www. based version
of my email dispatch list that started a few years ago. it's important
to note, that THE HUSHBOX has evolved to my online interpretation
of what folks talk about in regular print media but with our own
tragically hip spin, as well as covering topics that both u and
i discuss in the privacy of our homes and with friends...the latter
of which is the most fun to talk about."

Sweet Auburn
The mile and half that makes up Auburn Avenue contains
a concentration of African American history, heritage and achievement
that is unique to Atlanta. Sweet Auburn is not just a street, it
is a community, a spirit, a symbol of the ability of a people to
achieve and overcome severe oppression, degradation and discrimination
to build what Forbes magazine called the richest "Negro" street
in America".
This website is a tribute to our legends, heros and heroines lest
we forget the great contributions and sacrifices they made to get
us to where we are today. Our mission is also to serve those who
are diligently working for the restoration and rebuilding so that
Sweet Auburn might indeed reclaim it's rightful place as the "Greatest
Street on The Planet".
