Citizen

Citizen is a Toledo, Ohio-based emo and alternative rock band whose debut album Youth (2013) became one of the defining records of the genre's mid-2010s resurgence — a record that captured the emotional intensity of classic emo while pushing toward shoegaze and indie rock in a way that felt genuinely fresh. Subsequent albums Everybody Is Going to Heaven (2015) and As You Please (2017) confirmed a band willing to evolve without losing the core of what made them matter.
