Nirvani (Nirvana Tribute)

Nirvani is a Nirvana tribute act dedicated to recreating the catalog of the Seattle band whose albums Nevermind (1991) and In Utero (1993) defined the sound and spirit of an era in American rock. Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl built a catalog that has held up precisely because it resisted polish in favor of emotional directness — music that still sounds urgent decades after the fact.

Hearing it performed live by a tribute act that takes the material seriously is a different experience than a playlist — the volume and physicality of the live setting bring the songs back to their original context. The Masquerade on August 8 is the right room for that kind of performance. August 8.
