The Body is a two-piece from Portland — Chip King and Lee Buford — whose music operates at the intersection of doom, noise, and sound art, producing something that sits outside any recognizable genre taxonomy while clearly coming from the tradition of extreme music. Albums like No One Deserves Happiness (2016) and I've Seen All I Need to See (2021) have made them central figures in underground heavy music for two decades.
BIG BRAVE is a Montreal trio whose post-rock and drone-influenced sound shares an affinity for heavy texture and extreme dynamic range while arriving from a different direction — rooted in folk and ambient music as much as in heavy rock. Together on a single bill at The Masquerade on August 4, they constitute one of the more genuinely demanding and rewarding experimental music evenings of the summer.
