The redevelopment of south downtown Atlanta continues with the addition of a rooftop restaurant and cocktail lounge from the team behind Ponce City Market's Skyline Park and 9 Mile Station.

Slated to open in Summer 2023 at 222 Mitchell Street, Slater Hospitality's rooftop diner will "lean into its classic persona with a modern twist," including a pie bar display and "over-the-top" desserts. The adjacent cocktail lounge will have a full bar set amongst "interior finishes and plush seating."

The 333,000 square-foot 222 Mitchell Street mixed-use development from investment group Newport will feature a mix of retail, restaurant and entertainment concepts. The building is located across from Hotel Row, where Slater Hospitality will open pizzeria Pizza Clementine and basement cocktail bar Thirteenth Floor. All buildings are part of Newport's overall South Downtown development project.

Also announced as tenants for the South Downtown project are bowling alley and bar concept Pins Mechanical Company and an eatery at 235 Mitchell St. from the team behind How Crispy Express, the fried chicken pop-up slated to open a brick-and-mortar location in Summerhill.

In 2016, Newport opened an office in Atlanta and purchased 48 buildings within the South Downtown district, along with four acres of mostly unused surface parking lots. The neighborhood is near several MARTA rail stops, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena.
