Apache XLR has been Atlanta's room for live music, poetry and art since it took up the Apache Cafe tradition, and The Basement is its open mic for hip-hop and R&B.
What separates it from a standard open mic is the backing: performers work with a live band rather than a backing track, which makes it as much a rehearsal room for working artists as a showcase. Doors are at 8 p.m. at 393 Marietta Street NW, an easy walk from the Centennial Olympic Park district.
