From Hartsfield-Jackson to the Fan Fest, from your hotel to MBS — here’s how to move like a local during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and beyond.

Six ways to move through the city

🚇 MARTA Rail

$2.50/ride. Four lines converge at Five Points. The Gold Line runs direct from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Vine City is the stop for MBS.

🚌 MARTA Bus

Broad coverage across downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Use the MARTA app to plan routes and track buses in real time.

🚗 Uber & Lyft

Convenient off-peak, but expect 30–45 min surge waits after major events. Best for early arrivals and late-night departures from less-trafficked spots.

🛴 Lime Scooters

Dock-free scooters and bikes scattered throughout downtown. Perfect for short hops between zones — find one in the Lime app or MARTA app.

🅿️ Parking

GWCC / MBS official garages, Central Parking on Ted Turner Dr, and dozens of surface lots. Pre-book on SpotHero or ParkWhiz to lock in rates before match day.

🚶 On Foot

Downtown ATLanta’s core is more walkable than it looks. MBS to Centennial Park: 5 min. Five Points to Peachtree Center: 10 min. Use the zones to plan your route.

MARTA Rail: your best move

Atlanta’s rail system runs four lines — Red, Gold, Blue, and Green — all connecting at Five Points in the heart of downtown. For the World Cup, the Red and Gold lines are your primary routes.

Vine City

Red & Gold lines — Closest station to Mercedes-Benz Stadium (0.5 mi). The stop for all World Cup matches. Board early on game days.

Five Points

All four lines — Downtown hub. Transfer here between any lines. Walking distance to Centennial Yards, CTR Food Works, and the FIFA Fan Festival zone.

Peachtree Center

Red & Gold lines — Hotel corridor. Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton properties. Connects to the downtown underground pedestrian network.

Garnett

Red & Gold lines — South Downtown connector. Newly renovated street-level plaza. Walking distance to SoDo, Castleberry Hill, and the Broad St corridor.

Breeze Card: $1.00 reloadable card (refundable). Buy at any station kiosk or reload via the MARTA app. Single ride: $2.50. No cash on buses — Breeze Card or contactless payment only.

Game day: how to arrive like a local

  1. 90 minutes before kickoff — Board MARTA at your nearest station. Vine City will be packed closer to game time. Get on the train early to guarantee a spot.

  2. Exit at Vine City — Red or Gold line. Follow the stadium signage up the hill on Washington St. MBS is a short walk from either exit.

  3. Pre-game: FIFA Fan Festival — Centennial Olympic Park (Fan Fest) is a 10-min walk or quick scooter ride from Vine City. Gates open 4 hours before kickoff — free entry, ticketed premium areas.

  4. Post-game: skip the surge — Wait 45–60 min at a nearby bar or restaurant before opening a ride-share app. Or hop straight back on MARTA — no surge, instant board.

Parking near Mercedes-Benz Stadium

If you’re driving, book ahead — MBS official lots sell out for World Cup matches. Here are your best options.

GWCC / MBS Official Garages

Closest to the stadium. Sold via SeatGeek or the MBS parking portal. Buy in advance — these go fast for World Cup dates.

Ted Turner Dr & Ivan Allen Jr Blvd

Central parking lots within 0.5 mi of MBS. Mix of surface lots and garages. Pre-book on SpotHero for the best rates.

Westside Surface Lots

West of MBS along Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy. More affordable, ~10-min walk. Fill quickly on game days — arrive 2+ hours early.

Park + MARTA

Drive to a MARTA Park & Ride (College Park, East Point, North Springs) and rail in. Best strategy to beat both traffic and downtown parking costs.
