Historic Regenstein's Department Store Building Gets a Grand Ballroom at 207 Peachtree

The 207 Peachtree remake of the 1920s Regenstein's Department Store has opened a 10,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom event space, activating the building's upper floors for the first time since the late 1970s.

The next chapter of downtown Atlanta's "multi-venue dining and entertainment campus" has arrived at 207 Peachtree. RPB Management Group, the Atlanta hospitality company behind the top-to-bottom remake of the 1920s Regenstein's Department Store, has opened a new event space called the Grand Ballroom — marking the first time every floor of the historic building has been activated since the late 1970s.

The Grand Ballroom spans 10,000 square feet on the building's second floor, with room for more than 300 guests at weddings, corporate events, galas and other large gatherings, according to RPB. The design, described by the team as "timeless," features 14-foot ceilings, large original windows, restored hardwood floors, an expansive bar and crystal chandeliers. Nine oversized works of art line the walls, depicting Atlanta cultural moments and architectural landmarks — including the original Regenstein's building, designed by local firm Pringle & Smith.

The ballroom is part of a $10.5 million modernization effort aimed at preserving the building's historic character at the corner of Peachtree Street and Andrew Young International Boulevard. The final piece of the project — a rooftop lounge with food, cocktails and city views — is on pace to open in late 2026 and will be the first time the building's roof has been open to the public.

Counting the new ballroom, 207 Peachtree now houses five concepts: 1920s-style speakeasy Red Phone Booth and Italian spot Amalfi Cucina + Mercato, both operating in the building since 2016; immersive sports bar Peachtree Sporting Club; and American Dive, a barbecue and live-music joint tucked into the building's lowest level, once used as a storage vault during the Regenstein's era. The department store itself closed in 1978 after decades as a downtown retail landmark.
