What it is
Aamar Indian Cuisine is a small, no-frills Indian kitchen on Luckie Street with a long, wide-ranging menu. The spelling on the menu (“tondoori,” “ponir,” “moshoorer daal”) hints at a Bengali accent, and dishes are cooked to your preferred heat level, from mild up to hot.
What to order
Starters include vegetable samosas, chickpea-flour vegetable pakoras and chicken wings done Aamar style, marinated in tandoori sauce and grilled in the clay oven. For soup, the Mulligatawny is a traditional lentil soup brightened with lemon and fresh garlic, and there is also a coconut soup cooked with curry leaves. Mains are organized by protein: lamb, beef, chicken, shrimp, tilapia and goat, alongside masala specials, tandoori plates, biryanis and specialty rice dishes. Vegetarians get a full section of their own, and there are breads, relishes, sides and desserts to round out a meal.
