What it is
This is Waffle House #1996, at 135 Andrew Young International Boulevard in downtown Atlanta. It is the familiar Southern breakfast diner, serving waffles, eggs and grits no matter what the clock says. Because it never closes, it is a reliable stop before an early flight, after a late game or show, or any time a craving for hashbrowns hits.
Food and drink
The classic sweet cream waffle anchors the menu, with a pecan version alongside. The All-Star Special piles eggs, toast, a waffle, a choice of grits, hashbrowns or tomatoes and a breakfast meat onto one order, and the signature cheese ’n eggs come with raisin toast. Later in the day there are Texas-toast melts, Angus burgers, and hashbrown or grits bowls topped with cheese, eggs and meat. Hashbrowns come on the side or as the base of a bowl, and the drinks list now includes a lightly sweetened cold brew.
