The FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium wrapped in mid-July, but Discover Atlanta isn't ready to let the moment fade into a highlight reel. The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, working with Tantra Worldwide, has released "United We Roar," a three-part documentary series that turns the camera away from the pitch and onto the people in the stands who made eight matchdays in downtown Atlanta feel like a citywide movement.
The series is built around three full-length episodes — "Soccer in Generations," "All Inclusion" and "Soccer Cultural Impact" — each running about 27 minutes, plus a shorter official trailer and music video that Discover Atlanta has been rolling out on its YouTube channel. Rather than recap scorelines, the episodes follow the supporters clubs, immigrant communities, LGBTQ+ fan groups and multi-generation soccer families who treat Atlanta United and the national teams that came through Mercedes-Benz Stadium as an extension of home. One episode traces how soccer gets passed down inside families who grew up following the sport abroad before settling in metro Atlanta; another follows the inclusive supporter sections that have made Atlanta United's fan culture a model for MLS; a third looks at how that culture has rippled into the city's broader identity, from murals to neighborhood watch parties.
It's a fitting follow-up to a stat downtownATL has cited before: Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the only World Cup venues in the country built specifically for soccer, and its supporters have set MLS attendance records inside it. "United We Roar" makes the case that the noise didn't start with the World Cup and won't end with it either — it's been building since Atlanta United's first kickoff in 2017.
Downtown felt that energy directly. Underground Atlanta and the surrounding South Downtown blocks turned into informal fan zones on matchdays, with supporters spilling out of watch parties and into the historic underground corridors between Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Five Points. That same mix of immigrant-owned restaurants, longtime Atlanta United supporters and first-time World Cup visitors is exactly the crowd "United We Roar" spends its 90 minutes with, and it's a reminder that downtown's soccer culture is now a fixture rather than a one-summer event.
