What it is
BrickStone Cafe & Restaurant is a casual cafe on Broad Street in Fairlie-Poplar, close to the Georgia State University campus. The cafe says everything is made in-house, from the bread to the proteins and vegetables, and the menu covers the comfort-food basics: pasta, pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches and hot subs.
What to order
Pasta is the heart of the menu. Penne comes dressed in homemade sauces — tomato basil, rosemary, pesto or alfredo — with add-ons like chicken, meatballs, shrimp or roasted vegetables. The chicken parmesan penne, topped with a breaded chicken tender and marinara, sits on the most-popular list, and the “burgundy” pastas blend the alfredo and tomato basil sauces together. The cheese pizza is built on a homemade crust with house pizza sauce, mozzarella and parmesan.
Salads lean classic, with Caesar and balsamic versions (with or without chicken) and a roasted vegetable salad with peppers, mushrooms and black olives.
Before you go
Combos are the easiest way to sample the kitchen: pair a pizza slice with pasta, a sandwich with soup or pasta, or a salad with soup, or go for the Brickstone Trio of sandwich, salad and soup. There is also a pizza and pasta combo made with halal meat. You can order ahead for pickup through BrickStone’s online ordering site.
