What it is
City Produce is the largest produce vendor in the Municipal Market, and you can’t miss it: the stall sits just inside the Market’s Edgewood Avenue door. Longtime shoppers may still know it by its old name, Country Produce.
What you’ll find
Expect the staples people come to the Market for, plus some harder-to-find items. Greens are a specialty: turnips, collards, mustards and cabbage, with collards and turnip greens sold chopped with or without stems, in thin or one-inch cuts. You’ll also find kale, fresh and dried herbs, fresh turmeric, ginseng and ginger root, yellow root, white dirt, wildflower honey, and raw or roasted peanuts. Seasonal favorites include muscadines and yellow-meat watermelons. Fruits and vegetables are available whole or already chopped and ready to cook.
Before you go
The stall is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. City Produce takes special orders on request, and restaurants and churches can ask about special pricing for larger orders.
Getting here
The Market is at Edgewood Avenue and Jesse Hill Jr. Drive. The Atlanta Streetcar’s Sweet Auburn Market stop is right across the street, and the Market lot offers discounted parking for the first hour with validation, which is handy when you’re carrying out bags of greens.
