What it is
Historic Fourth Ward Park covers 17 acres in Old Fourth Ward and connects directly to the BeltLine Eastside Trail. The project turned underused land into a landscaped park and has won design awards for it. At its center is a 2-acre lake that doubles as a stormwater retention basin, surrounded by large open meadows.
What to do
Families head for the playground, where the equipment is available year-round and a shade structure sits alongside, and for the kids’ splash pad, which the BeltLine lists as running 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from May 1 through October 1. The meadows give you room to spread out and relax, and the amphitheater hosts festivals and other gatherings. Since the park links to the Eastside Trail, it makes an easy stop on a longer walk or bike ride.
Getting here
The BeltLine lists entry points from North Avenue, Morgan Street, Dallas Street, Rankin Street, Angier Avenue and Ralph McGill Boulevard, and its park page has directions and BeltLine parking information.
Planning a gathering
Park space can be reserved through iParcs, and larger groups or special activities may need an event permit. To report a maintenance issue, call ATL311 or visit ATL311.com.
