Coca-Cola Film Series: The Ring in Concert with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra performs Hans Zimmer's score live to picture as The Ring screens at the Fox for one night only.
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra plays Hans Zimmer's score live to picture as The Ring screens at the Fox Theatre on Wednesday, October 21.
Gore Verbinski's 2002 film did more than any other to import Japanese horror into American theaters, and its power was always as much sonic as visual — Zimmer's score works by sustained dread rather than jump-scare stings, sitting under the image and refusing to resolve. Pulling it out of the speakers and onto a stage full of musicians changes the arithmetic of watching it.
The Fox has run this format for several seasons now, and the room's scale is part of the appeal: a 4,600-seat auditorium under a fake Moorish night sky is an unusually good place to be frightened in company.
This is a one-night-only engagement. Doors open at 7 p.m. for an 8 p.m. start at 660 Peachtree Street NE.
