Mumford & Sons burst onto the global stage with their 2009 debut Sigh No More and its centerpiece track "Little Lion Man" — a banjo-driven anthem that crossed over from folk festivals to mainstream radio and announced a new appetite for acoustic sincerity in popular music. Their follow-up Babel (2012) won the Grammy for Album of the Year and produced "I Will Wait," one of the decade's most recognizable singles. They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.
The band's evolution — from stomp-and-shout folk into more expansive, electronic-influenced territory on Wilder Mind (2015) and Delta (2018) — has been gradual and occasionally contentious with the purist wing of their fanbase, but live they remain one of the most reliably spectacular shows in rock: full-band dynamics, genuine emotional stakes, and a crowd that knows every word. Their most recent album Rushmere (2025) is their most critically well-received work in years. State Farm Arena on August 4 is part of the accompanying world tour.
