Pentatonix — Christmas in the City Tour

Pentatonix play State Farm Arena on Thursday, December 10 as part of the Christmas in the City Tour. The group has turned holiday programming into something closer to an institution. Since winning the third season of The Sing-Off in 2011 they have built an unusual career: a vocal ensemble with no instruments that nonetheless sells arenas, driven largely by a run of Christmas records that have gone platinum and put them on the Billboard 200's upper reaches most Decembers. The live show is the argument for the format. Five voices cover melody, harmony, bass, and percussion with no backing tracks, which means the arrangements have to be built rather than layered — and the vocal-percussion work in particular tends to be the thing that converts skeptics in the room. Doors and support details are posted at the arena. State Farm Arena is at 1 State Farm Drive, connected to the Georgia World Congress Center campus and served by the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center MARTA station.
