A steakhouse with roots in Buckhead has filed paperwork that points toward a new home in downtown Atlanta. PreView Steakhouse is the proposed name for a restaurant at 111 Cone Street NW, where it would operate inside the Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

The name may ring a bell for some Atlanta diners. The team's earlier venture, PreView Restaurant, opened in 2022 at The Shops of Buckhead, 2221 Peachtree Road NE. That room measured roughly 2,000 square feet. The downtown plan calls for about twice that, which lines up with what ownership said it wanted when the first location opened.

Back then, CEO Michael Efuetlateh talked about hoping to grow into a larger space down the road. He also described the mood he was going for as relaxed and grown-up, with an upscale but easygoing feel. The Cone Street proposal looks like the next step in that plan.

What the filings show

Most of what is known so far comes from public records rather than an announcement. A business entity called PreView Steakhouse LLC was registered with the Georgia Secretary of State in August 2024. A liquor license application filed with the City of Atlanta fills in more of the picture.

According to that application, the restaurant would cover about 4,000 square feet and seat as many as 196 guests. Proposed hours run from noon until 3 a.m. The filing projects that food would account for about 70 percent of sales, with alcohol making up the remaining 30 percent, so the business is pitched as a restaurant first and a bar second.

Still early

Plenty remains undecided. Efuetlateh told the outlet that first reported the plans that it was too soon to talk specifics, including when the doors might open. A liquor license application is one step in a longer process, and the public details so far come from paperwork rather than a formal launch.

Even so, the filings show a team that started in Buckhead and is now looking to downtown for its next chapter. downtownATL will keep an eye on the Cone Street project and share updates as more details emerge.
