John Fischer, president of the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association, emphasized the need to maintain momentum: "We need to roll out the red carpet. But let's not roll it back up and put it away after the visitors are gone."
Multiple development projects are accelerating to meet the 2026 deadline. Brian McGowan, CEO of Centennial Yards, stated his team will install "a countdown clock to the World Cup" to ensure delivery of completed projects. Other initiatives include office-to-residential conversions, MARTA station improvements, and new technology hubs.
