What it is
The Alligator Mural is a large outdoor painting in South Downtown by the Belgian street artist ROA, made in 2011. On The Grid describes it as a monumental piece: an upside-down alligator whose tail curls up the wall, skirts the signage and climbs the fire escape of an old music hall.
Where it comes from
On The Grid lists the work among the Living Walls murals in the neighborhood. It appears alongside other South Downtown stops on the guide, including the Sam3 mural, which it describes as a 16-story painting, and the LNY mural.
