What it is
Der Biergarten is a German beer hall on Marietta Street in the Centennial Olympic Park district. Inside you’ll find brick walls and warm wood; outside, a raised patio under strings of lights. It works for an after-work beer, a long dinner with friends, or an international soccer match with a stein in hand.
Food and drink
The kitchen sticks to German classics. Start with a giant warm pretzel (obatzda cheese spread is an add-on), potato pancakes with applesauce, or Reuben spring rolls. Mains run from bratwurst and knackwurst plates with potato salad and sauerkraut to Wiener schnitzel, Jägerschnitzel over käsespätzle, sauerbraten and beef rouladen, and apple strudel with vanilla ice cream closes things out. Bigger groups can share the König Ludwig platter, which serves four to six. German drafts from Weihenstephan, Hofbräu, Paulaner, Bitburger and Hacker-Pschorr come by the half liter or the full liter, and there is wine and a cocktail list too.
Before you go
The posted hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; the beer garden is closed Monday and Tuesday. Some tables can be booked on Resy, but the house keeps room for walk-ins. Groups of 25 or more can ask for a private event proposal through the Der Biergarten website.
