What it is
Hurt Park is a compact green triangle tucked between Edgewood Avenue, Courtland Street and Gilmer Street, near Georgia State University’s downtown campus. It is a small, easy-to-find green space for students, neighbors and anyone passing through the campus blocks.
What happens here
Georgia State lists Hurt Park as one of its campus event spaces, and the university’s calendar regularly fills the park with open-air programming. Recent seasons have brought Cinema Under The Stars movie nights, outdoor yoga sessions, glow-in-the-dark mini golf and a fall festival. Most of these are university events, so check the GSU calendar before you go to see what is scheduled and whether it is open to the public.
Before you go
On a quiet day it is simply a good spot to sit with a coffee or a book between errands. When a campus event is on, expect the park to be busier and set up for the program. Each event’s calendar listing has the specifics.
