What it is
MJQ Concourse is a dance club on the lower level of Underground Atlanta, at 50 Lower Alabama St, Suite 001. Underground Atlanta’s directory calls it the epicenter of the city’s underground nightlife scene. The club’s own history page says it began in 1994 in the basement of the Ponce de Leon Hotel and became MJQ Concourse after a 1997 move down Ponce de Leon Avenue, before it later moved to Underground.
Events
The calendar is built around DJ nights. Locals Only is the Wednesday party, which the club bills as the longest-running Wednesday night dance party in the city, with ATL DJs and rising names playing a mix of classic and new sounds. Bata Bata pairs amapiano with afrobeats and is billed as low lights, close quarters and heavy rhythm. R3B00T is a DJ Mettaspin party that remixes R&B, rock, house, funk and pop from the 80s, 90s and 2000s, and Sync System takes over the main room on the second Saturday of each month. Saturday nights are described as the last big night of the week, with dance tracks from indie rock to hip hop.
