What it is
Nonprofit Tacos is a small taco shop on Nelson Street in Castleberry Hill with a short, focused menu. Everything is made in its own kitchen each day, and the idea behind it is a taco that borrows herbs from three cooking traditions at once: Italian, Indian and Mexican.
Food and drink
There are two tacos, vegetarian and vegan, and both start from the same organic base of arugula, spinach, romaine, black beans, tomatoes and green onions. Fresh basil and cilantro go on top, then a squeeze of lime and a drizzle of honey. The vegetarian version adds organic mozzarella and sour cream; the vegan one leaves both off. The shop says it builds its tacos to cover the essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids, with plant protein and fiber in the mix. You can order ahead from the Nonprofit Tacos website.
Before you go
The shop lists the same hours every day, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Gluten and dairy are used throughout the kitchen and dishes are not substituted, so if you have an allergy, tell the staff before you order, or add a note in the comments when ordering online.
