What it is
SkyView Atlanta opened in 2013. The observation wheel rises more than 200 feet above Luckie Street, directly across from Centennial Olympic Park. A ride usually lasts 7 to 12 minutes, which gives you time to see downtown from every side as the wheel turns.
The ride
Each group gets a private gondola, and a standard gondola seats up to six adults. There are no individual height, weight or age limits, but children must ride with an adult. Two standard gondolas are fully wheelchair accessible. The VIP gondola is the upgrade: it has a glass floor and Ferrari-style seats, holds up to five guests, skips the line and requires a reservation. The wheel runs rain or shine but stops temporarily when lightning is detected nearby.
Before you go
Standard rides need no reservation. Tickets bought ahead are good for one ride within a year of purchase, and all ticket sales are non-refundable. You can’t bring outside food or drinks, but the on-site Energy Eatz stand sells snacks, beer, wine and mixed drinks. Only registered service animals are allowed; pets are not. The wheel opens at 10 a.m. daily and stays open an hour later on Friday and Saturday nights.
Getting here
SkyView sends drivers to the iParkit lot and deck at 236 Williams Street, two blocks away. Ask a ticket agent to validate your parking. Rideshare drivers can drop you off right at 168 Luckie Street NW.
