The Food Shoppe

What it is

The Food Shoppe is a Luckie Street kitchen built around New Orleans flavors. It serves breakfast along with lunch and dinner, and it is best known for its Walk & Eat bowls and Angie’s bread pudding.

What to order

Walk & Eat bowls come in small or regular sizes. Choices include jambalaya (plus a Voodoo version with barbecue topping), shrimp and grits, red beans and rice with smoked sausage, Pasta Yaya in a Creole cream sauce, and Ooey Gooey chicken with mac and cheese. The menu also has filé gumbo, seafood bisque, shrimp and catfish po’ boys, and fried catfish or shrimp plates with two sides. In the morning, look for a shrimp Creole omelet, Creole potatoes, or a breakfast bowl of grits, eggs and cheese. Save room for Angie’s bread pudding or her Ooey Gooey cake. The shop also makes its own sweet punch, orange punch and pink lemonade.
