AJJ with Greet Death
Arizona folk-punk mainstays AJJ headline Hell at The Masquerade with Greet Death opening.
AJJ headline the Hell room at The Masquerade on Saturday, November 7, with Greet Death in support.
Two decades on from their start as an acoustic duo in Phoenix, AJJ remain one of the few bands to make folk-punk's central joke — screaming misanthropy over nylon strings — into a durable body of work. The catalog has grown steadily stranger and better arranged over the years without losing the thing that made it stick: Sean Bonnette writing about despair with a specificity that lands closer to comedy than lament.
Greet Death open, which is an unusually well-matched pairing. The Michigan band's slowcore-adjacent heaviness gives the night a genuine dynamic arc rather than a warm-up act.
Doors at 7 p.m. at 75 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.
