Castle Rat is a New York-based doom and gothic rock trio whose recordings have established them as one of the most compelling acts in the occult and gothic metal revival — music that draws on the drama of classic doom and the aesthetic richness of gothic rock without simply re-staging either. Unto Others (formerly Idle Hands) is a Portland-based band whose combination of gothic metal, NWOBHM, and post-punk has earned them a devoted following in heavy music's more atmospheric corner.
