Formed in 1996 by teenage sisters Morgan and Mercedes Lander in London, Ontario, Kittie became one of the first all-female acts to break through in mainstream heavy metal — arriving at a moment when women in the genre were a genuine rarity. Their 1999 debut Spit and its single "Brackish" introduced them to a global audience; albums like Oracle (2001) and Until the End (2004) cemented their legacy as underground legends.

After years of inactivity and a 2023 documentary that reminded a new generation exactly why this band mattered, Kittie made one of the most celebrated metal comebacks in recent memory — releasing new material and returning to the road to reclaim their place as pioneers of the genre.
