Man Man is a Philadelphia-based indie rock band whose willfully eccentric approach to songwriting has produced one of the more idiosyncratic catalogs in the post-2000s American underground. Led by vocalist and keyboardist Honus Honus (Ryan Kattner), albums like Six Demon Bag (2006) and Rabbit Habits (2008) established them as a genuine original — absorbing influences from Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart, and vaudeville without sounding like a pastiche of any of them.
Their live show is theatrical, physically committed, and structurally unpredictable in ways that reward audiences who show up without a specific set list in mind. The Masquerade on July 8 is the kind of small-room show that becomes a "you had to be there" story for anyone who makes the effort to attend.
