Neoni play Purgatory at The Masquerade on Monday, October 19.
The duo — twin sisters Sarah and Katie Ryan — build alt-pop out of parts that shouldn't sit together: sibling harmony, trap-adjacent drum programming, and choruses pitched at the volume of a rock band. Their catalog has grown largely through sync placements and a fiercely online audience, which produces the particular kind of crowd that knows every word to songs that never went to radio.
Purgatory suits them. The room is small enough that the two-vocalist setup reads as a conversation rather than a performance, and Monday-night shows at The Masquerade tend to draw the people who genuinely wanted to be there.
Doors at 7 p.m., 75 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.
