Dogstar is a rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1991, known in no small part for the presence of Keanu Reeves on bass guitar. Formed by Reeves with vocalist/guitarist Bret Domrose and drummer Robert Mailhouse, the band released two studio albums in the 1990s — Our Little Visionary (1996) and Happy Ending (2000) — and built a devoted following before going on hiatus in 2002 as Reeves' film career demanded increasing attention.
After more than two decades off, Dogstar reunited in 2023, releasing new music and returning to tour for the first time since their original run. Their comeback album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees showed the band picking up more or less where they left off — melodic alt-rock with real craft behind it, Reeves as committed a bassist as ever. The Tabernacle is a perfect room for the occasion: intimate enough that the full-circle nature of the moment actually registers.
