Killswitch Engage

Formed in Westfield, Massachusetts in 1999, Killswitch Engage are among the architects of the New American metalcore sound — a style that fused the aggression of hardcore punk with the melody of melodic death metal to produce one of the most influential subgenres of the 2000s.

The band's breakthrough came with Alive or Just Breathing (2002) and was cemented by The End of Heartache (2004), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for the title track. Vocalist Jesse Leach — who departed after the band's early years before returning in 2012 — has driven the group's most acclaimed work, including "My Curse," "In Due Time" (another Grammy nominee), and a catalog of anthems that have defined heavy music for an entire generation of fans.
