Trap Sushi turns the Masquerade’s Purgatory room into a proving ground. The format is simple and unforgiving: a rotating lineup of Atlanta artists each get a fifteen-minute set, no more, and a panel of celebrity judges scores them live in front of the room.
The prize is real. Whoever takes the night walks away with an opening slot at Atlanta’s Atlanime Fest on October 17 — a booking that puts a local act in front of a festival crowd rather than a club one.
Doors and set times run on the Masquerade’s usual Purgatory schedule, with the showcase starting at 7pm. Purgatory is the smallest of the venue’s three rooms at 89 Centennial Olympic Park Drive, which makes it the right size for a competition where the crowd reaction is part of the scoring.
