Morelli's Ice Cream

What it is

Morelli’s Ice Cream is a small-batch Atlanta ice cream maker with a scoop counter inside CTR Food Works at The CTR, the former CNN Center on Marietta Street. Donald Sargent left a long career in pharmaceutical sales in 2008 to make ice cream, and he and his wife, Clarissa Morelli, opened their first walk-up window in East Atlanta that year. The downtown counter opened in 2026 and is one of four Morelli’s shops, alongside Ormewood Park, Virginia-Highland and Chattahoochee Food Works.

Food and drink

Salted caramel is the flavor people tend to ask about first, and the shop also lists blueberry corncake and coffee doughnut among its regulars. Flavors rotate and vary from shop to shop, so the Morelli’s website posts each day’s selection. Beyond scoops there are milkshakes, sundaes, pints and quarts, and ice cream cakes and pies, with online ordering for pickup.

The CTR’s directory lists hours as 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
