Another large live music venue is headed for the center of Atlanta.
Centennial Yards Company has signed a long-term lease with Live Nation for a venue inside the under-construction entertainment and sports section of the megaproject rising from the former Gulch, directly across the street from both State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The size is the story
The unnamed venue will hold 5,300 people. For context, the Fox Theatre seats 4,665 and the nearby Tabernacle holds 2,600. That places the new hall at the top of downtown's mid-size music capacity, in a bracket Atlanta has been thin on for touring acts too large for a club and too small for an arena.
Centennial Yards Company says to expect performances across genres, from national headliners to global touring acts to local artists. Designs emphasize what officials describe as an unwavering focus on the fan, with sound quality, clear sightlines, upgraded food and beverage packages and premium experience options.
Jordan Zachary, Live Nation's president of global venues, said the project fills a key gap in the market.
Where it sits
Renderings show the mid-rise venue wedged next to the active railroad lines along M.L.K. Jr. Drive. Its immediate neighbor will be Cosm, the three-story immersive entertainment concept going vertical this month, which will be the company's third U.S. venue and its first in the eastern half of the country.
Together with State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium across the street, that concentrates arena, stadium, immersive-dome and mid-size concert capacity within a few blocks of one another.
Timeline
Project officials say the music venue is scheduled to open sometime in 2027, which puts it after the 2026 World Cup rather than in time for it. The entertainment district around it is being built on a faster clock.
