Dolo's Pizza Plans Move From Lower to Upper Alabama at Underground Atlanta

Dolo's Pizza is getting ready to move upstairs. After close to three years on Lower Alabama at Underground Atlanta, the pizzeria plans to relocate to a new space on Upper Alabama, staying inside the same development rather than leaving it.

The reason for the move is the clock, not the floor plan. Co-owner Yusef Walker estimates the Upper Alabama space at roughly 2,050 square feet, which he described as no major change in size. What the new address offers is a chance at daytime business, and the team intends to use it to add lunch service. At the time of the announcement, Dolo's kept late hours only: 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Walker told What Now Atlanta that daytime exposure was the biggest incentive, and that the owners wanted to keep working with Underground, where he said the relationship had been a good one.

The business already has deep roots at the property. Walker and Alyson Williams started Dolo's as a pandemic-era pop-up, then took a pizza cart into the Underground Creative Carts Collective in 2021. A year later they moved into the Lower Alabama storefront that has served as home base since.

Regulars should recognize the new room. The plan is to carry over both the menu and the look of the current shop, which leans on a nostalgic pizzeria feel with touches drawn from the owners' own personalities and backgrounds. The pies reflect that mix. The Matey pairs jerk chicken with blue cheese and honey over marinara and mozzarella. The Hot & Sweet adds plantain and jalapeño. The Colliseum is built on lemon-pepper Impossible beef with broccoli, red onion and a balsamic glaze.

Walker described the style as Atlanta pizza with hints of the owners' upbringing, including Caribbean influences, and said keeping quality consistent for loyal customers is the priority. The team is also experimenting: a sourdough concept is in development and could eventually find its way into the pizzas.

When the move was announced, no opening date or relocation timeline had been set.

The move adds to a busy stretch for Upper Alabama. Underground Atlanta has been owned by Lalani Ventures since 2020, and the street gained HOMMEWRK, an apparel store from rapper Trinidad James, in February 2025. A six-stall food hall is also planned for Upper Alabama, though no tenants had been named. Read more about those plans in our coverage of the Underground food hall and apartment proposal.
