Piedmont Park is the park most Atlantans picture when they picture a park in Atlanta — open lawns, a skyline view across Lake Clara Meer, and the room to absorb a festival crowd without feeling crowded. It sits in Midtown, roughly two miles north of the 30303, and it is where the city puts its largest outdoor events.
Why it is in our Friend Zone
It is not downtown, and we do not pretend otherwise. But when a festival at Piedmont fills every hotel room, restaurant and MARTA car in the city center — and sends its official late shows straight to The Masquerade — that is a downtown story. We cover the major ones and leave the rest to Midtown.
Getting there from downtown
MARTA to Midtown or Arts Center station, then a walk east. On festival weekends this is meaningfully faster than driving, and parking around the park is limited even on ordinary days.
The park is managed by the Piedmont Park Conservancy.
