What it is
Founders Green is a half-acre public gathering space at 110 Broad Street SW in South Downtown. It is surrounded by historic buildings and has seating, a stage and flexible open space designed for concerts, movie nights, watch parties, yoga classes and everyday gatherings. Downtown Atlanta Inc. says the name honors Atlanta's founders and the neighborhood's history as the city's original commercial district.
Why it matters
The park is part of South Downtown's revitalization. By giving people a place to gather, it is meant to bring foot traffic that supports nearby businesses and entrepreneurs as new restaurants, retailers, residents and businesses arrive. Nearby, Broad Street BBQ at 96 Broad St SW is about 86 feet away, and Friedman's Shoes is on Mitchell Street.
