The National Center for Civil and Human Rights opens its galleries for an afternoon built around National Coming Out Day, the observance that has encouraged people to share their own stories since 1988. The programming runs from noon to 5 p.m. and is folded into general admission, so visitors can move between the scheduled activities and the permanent exhibitions at their own pace.
The Action Lab hosts a My Passion takeover led by The Trevor Project, alongside LGBTQIA+-themed art activities and live sets from local LGBTQIA+ performers in the Main Lobby. A testimonial booth invites guests to record a reflection, a message of support or a personal story, adding their own voice to the day rather than only taking one in.
Throughout the building, the Center is pointing visitors toward the LGBTQIA+ figures and milestones already threaded through its exhibitions, connecting the day's celebration to the wider human rights story the museum tells year-round. The event is presented in collaboration with the Rustin Institute.
The Center sits at 100 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd NW, next to Centennial Olympic Park and a short walk from the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola.
