What it is
Brown Toy Box is a children’s toy company and retailer with a store at 211 Mitchell Street SW in South Downtown. The shop sells toys for ages from babies through teens, including the company’s own originals such as puzzles and STEAM kits, plus brands it likes.
Programs
The store also houses the Curious Explorer Zone, a play-based learning space run by the Brown Toy Box Foundation. Programming includes weekly STEAM Saturdays led by educators, artists and scientists, Tales & Tinkering for the youngest explorers, workshops, school visits and camps. Many of these experiences are offered to families at no cost.
Birthday parties
Families can request a private party with a hands-on “Curiosity Mission,” with themes like rocket science, chemistry, paleontology and coding. Submitting a request does not reserve a date; the team confirms availability first.
