What it is
Mule Train is a restaurant at 87 Broad Street SW in South Downtown, in the building that once held Miller’s Rexall Drug Store. It opened on Sept. 30, 2026. Mike and Shyretha Sheats run it after nearly a decade of cooking as The Plate Sale, a pop-up supper club. The name nods to a family gathering spot in Oglethorpe, Georgia, and to the mule train of the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign.
Food and drink
The menu is seasonal Southern cooking built on Georgia farms, with simple treatments of vegetables and whole cuts of meat. Reporters have pointed to aged pork from a yakitori grill and candy roaster squash with a marigold vinegar lacquer. The bar keeps cocktails tightly focused, with classic sours, highballs and stirred drinks, plus natural wine.
The room
It is a roughly 40-seat dining room with walnut walls, blue seating and a view into the kitchen.
